Skin Cancer and early Detection

August 30, 2018

Recently a few of you have started to ask about evolving lesions on your skin.

Remember the ABCDE rule: Asymmetry (one half of the mole doesn't match the other), Border irregularity, Color that is not uniform, Diameter greater than 6 mm (about the size of a pencil eraser), and Evolving size, shape or color.

A great article that explains ABCDE is published here: Skin Cancer Information.

One of the greatest things you can do to keep your own eye on your health, is use your smart phone to document a lesion. We all have them! So turn that phone onto your spot and snap. The beauty is each photo has a date stamp that will be a part of the picture. Start a file on your desktop adding these snapshots and photograph your lesion monthly to see if there are changes. Keep this in your file for reference. You will be able to forward all this documentation to your dermatologist. Your Dr. will be grateful for SO much data that they will be able to access what is happening much better.

So stay informed and be your best skin advocate!

As always I am here with free consultations should you need guidance and anything in particular!
